Romanian commits suicide
CEBU, Philippines - Financial problems allegedly caused a Romanian national to commit suicide yesterday by tying a belt around his neck.
Alfred Csaba Bokor, 32, of Romania was found dead by his live-in partner, Jessiel Punting, 25, in their rented house along 5th Street Happy Valley Subdivision, Barangay Calamba Cebu City yesterday morning.
Punting who is a native of Danao City, said the last time she saw Bokor alive was at around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday dawn while having a drinking session together.
Punting said she left her drunken live-in partner to bring her 1 year and 9 month-old baby girl to bed on an adjacent room where she also slept.
When she awoke at around 9:30 a.m. she discovered Bokor where she left him, sitting on a chair in the middle of the room, but he was already dead.
Cebu City Police Office homicide investigator, SPO3 Ruth Violango told The FREEMAN that the victim tied one end of the belt around his neck and the other end to a cabinet handle.
She said Bokor strangled himself because of financial difficulties which he has been experiencing since last year.
The victim was only wearing his shorts when he was found dead. Violango said that Bokor might have died between 3:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
A suicide letter was also recovered a few meters away from the victim’s body where he said his last goodbyes to Punting and to his baby girl. “I’m sorry Bella, I love you,” Bokor wrote in his suicide note.
Though Bokor is not Bella’s biological father, Punting said that Bokor loved and cared for Bella and tried to provide for all of her needs.
Bokor works in a cosmetic company where he only earns on a commission basis. Prior to their relationship, Punting had a South African husband who reportedly left her.
Punting said she met Bokor two years ago through the internet. The victim reportedly left his life in Romania to meet and live with Punting until he died.
Investigators are now trying to communicate with the Romanian embassy to bring Bokor back to his home land. (FREEMAN)
