GSIS puts up G-W@PS kiosk at Capitol bldg
CEBU, Philippines - The Government System Insurance System has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Province of Cebu for the installation of the Wireless Automated Processing System (G-W@PS) kiosk at the Capitol building.
The memorandum was recently signed by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, GSIS President and General Manager Robert Vergara, and GSIS Chairman Daniel Lacson.
The Cebu Provincial Capitol is just one of the government agencies, city halls, selected municipalities that will be installed with these kiosks as directed by the newly constituted GSIS Board of Trustees.
GSIS is set to roll-out 500 additional kiosks all over the country to help pensioners and other members lessen expenses in getting services like filing of loan applications, access to member’s records, and many others.
The MOU signing was held as part of the GSIS stake holder’s meeting where the agency explained the new policies regarding their survivorship pension and cancellation of ARAS (Annual Reward of Active Status) as well as how members can choose to access their benefits and loans through the renewed partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines.
The GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (G-W@PS) epitomizes the “dependable, anytime, anywhere” battle cry of the GSIS.
GSIS members can apply for loans, check membership and loan accounts through the G-W@PS kiosk. They could also renew active status as well as process loan applications without any documentary requirement.
G-W@PS makes use of a combination of world-class technologies, such as radio frequency identification, biometrics, and virtual private network to come up with a secure system that can perform processing remotely in a paperless manner.
The G-W@PS kiosk resembles an automated teller machine (ATM) that has a touch screen monitor but GSIS clarified that the GW@PS kiosk is not an ATM and does not dispense money.
To transact with GSIS, clients can place their eCard Plus in the G-W@PS kiosk’s card reader and validate by putting their finger lightly on the scanner. Instructions in the GW@PS kiosk are easy to follow and transaction can be done in just a few minutes. (FREEMAN)
