CEBU, Philippines - A member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) was shot dead by an unknown gunman at Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City yesterday dawn.
Alberto Limbaga, 45, of Panganiban Street, Pahina Central Cebu City was shot in the head while sleeping on top of a pushcart parked along Leon Kilat Street, Barangay Kalubihan at around 5:00 a.m. yesterday.
Limbaga was shot by an unknown gunman onboard a motorcycle and was hit on the left side of his head with the bullet exiting on the right side. The gunman reportedly sped away from the area after shooting the sleeping victim.
He was immediately brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) by the responding policemen from Fuente Police Station for medical treatment. The victim later died at around 8:00 a.m.
“Kana siya (Limbaga) mag-uban uban gyud na siya during checkpoints so possibly katong natudlo niya sauna nga nakagawas na or mga kaila ba ron atong mga tawhana ang nibawos niya,” said Cebu City Police Office homicide investigator, SPO4 Alex Dacua.
Dacua said that during their follow up investigation, people who witnessed the shooting refused to help them out of fear.
The police recovered an empty shell believed to be from a .45 caliber handgun.

Police are looking into the possibility that personal grudges may have led to the victim’s death. (FREEMAN)
