CEBU, Philippines - About 5,000 marijuana plants are set to be burned at the Cebu Provincial Police Office grounds this morning.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Police Regional Office Director Ager Ontog will lead the burning of the dried marijuana plants as well as destroy 15 video karera machines.
Most of the marijuana plants came from the towns of Balamban, Carmen, Badian, and Liloan as well as from the cities of Danao and Toledo. Some were from the operations of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7.
Most of the video karera machines were from Consolacion town.
After the ceremony, the governor will also turn over the two SOCO vans to the CPPO through Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador.
The two vans will be used by police stations in the northern and southern parts of Cebu for their operations.
Comendador said the ceremony proves that the police are intensifying their operations against illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
“This shows that ang pulis naglihok,” the provincial director said.
Comendador will be giving an award to the chiefs of the police station who have accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs. — (FREEMAN)
