PRO-7 awards 4 cops, 2 police units

CEBU, Philippines - Four outstanding policemen and two police units were given awards by the Police Regional Office-7 last Monday for implementing “with utmost efficiency” the improvement of the police-community partnership in their different areas of responsibility.

The giving of recognition was one of the highlights of the 16th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebration.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) was awarded for being the best unit in terms of PCR in the city police office category, while the Regional Health Service-7 topped the national support unit category.

The police awardees were Senior Inspector Maria Aurora Rayos (LLCPO) as best PCR-Police Commission Officer for the city police office category, Inspector Christopher Fernandez of the Bohol Provincial Police Office as best in the provincial police office category, SPO1 Rodito Viovicente (LLCPO) as best PCR-Police Non-Commission Officer for the city police category and PO2 Jackelyn Rosales of Bohol as best PCR-PNCO for Provincial Police Office category.

They were hailed for their untiring efforts in collaborating with and supporting the community.

This month’s celebration has the theme “Matatag na Ugnayan ng Mamamayan at Kapulisan Tungo sa Mapayapa at Ligtas na Pamayanan.”

Chief Superintendent Carmelo Valmoria, deputy provincial director for operation of the National Capital Region Police Office, encouraged all policemen to make a difference by starting within themselves.

“As time goes by nagka-improve ang pamulis and I believe there is progress and change in PNP,” Valmoria said during his speech.

Valmoria added that change and progress started with the comprehensive program for the police force like the implementation of the PNP Reform Commission on 2003, Integrated Transformation Program 2004, PNP Shelter Program 2006, Mamang Pulis and Aling Pulis Program on 2007, League PNP 2008, Chief PNP’s Eight Initiatives and Operational Imperatives.

The city director of the LLCPO, Anthony Obenza, was thankful for the cooperation of the community and the local government unit for supporting their programs, making them the top awardee.

“We are focusing on environmental protection where the community was able to cooperate and also, this is part of the eco-tourism program of the city,” Obenza said. – (FREEMAN)
