CEBU, Philippines - A company selling used cars lost an undetermined amount of cash to unidentified burglars in Barangay Basak Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.
Kasaligan Auto Mart through Victor Barnacia reported to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station that their cash vault was stolen by unidentified people who allegedly broke into their office between 3:00 to 4:00 a.m.
Barnacia first discovered the broken doorknob of their office and found out that the vault was already missing.
The vault was later found at a secluded area in sitio East Binabag, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion. A certain Fredo reported to the town police station about his discovery of the vault in their place.
Fredo said he recovered three postdated checks inside the vault amounting to P99,746. There were also five blank checks, calling cards and several rubber bands. The vault was later claimed by Henry Tiu, manager of Kasaligan Auto Mart.
Fredo told the police that he first noticed a multicab had stopped at the area where he found the vault. He said to have heard a noise like there was heavy pounding of a hard object but just ignored it. — (FREEMAN)
