SK monitoring utilization of clean and green, drug awareness funds

CEBU, Philippines - The president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Cebu City yesterday reminded all chairpersons of the SK in each of the city’s 80 barangays to utilize the 10 percent budget allocation for the clean and green brigade and the 10 percent budget for the drug awareness campaign.

Cebu City SK Federation President John Philip Po who sits as ex-officio member of the City Council, said they are strictly monitoring if the allocations are properly utilized in each barangay. 

Without mentioning the specific barangays, Po said several SK chairpersons have not properly utilized the budget for the two programs. 

In the pointing system of the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), 25 points is being allocated for the implementation of the clean and green and drug awareness programs.  

In a separate development, 250 representatives of the youth sector will be participating in the first Cebu City Youth Congress at the Cebu Business Hotel next month.

Among the topics to be discussed are in the fields of education, health and social services, employment and entrepreneurship and environment.

Paolo Martin Saberon, project chairman and Cebu City Youth Development Council commissioner, said the congress aims to disclose the real problems the youth sector is facing today. —(FREEMAN)
