Radio blocktimer Charged

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - A radio blocktimer charged with estafa was released from detention yesterday after he posted a P40,000 bail for his temporary freedom.

Prosecutor Aida Sanchez elevated the complaint against Cuban, who also claims to be a faith healer, to Regional Trial Court after he waived his right for a preliminary investigation.

A native of Lazi, Siquijor, Cuban is currently residing at Legazpi Street, Barangay San Roque, Cebu City.

Lotes Laumen, of Masiwa, Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, filed the case against Cuban, 48, for allegedly defrauding her of P45,000. Laumen, 36, said she called up Cuban on July 11 after reading his advertisement in a newspaper that he can predict the future, solve love problems, among others.

She said she and Cuban discussed the problem of his friend, Loren Alba.

Laumen said Cuba then asked for P45,000 and 45 pieces of candles worth P1,000 each.

“Because I am very eager to help my friend, I used my owned money to pay Cuban because Cuban with tricky manipulation, convinced me that he possesses power to control the mind of a person,” she reads. — (FREEMAN)
