Cordova cybersex victims doing well

CEBU, Philippines - Even without their parents, the six children who were victims of child abuse are doing well under the welfare of the Provincial Commission for the Welfare of Children (PCWC), Vice-governor Agnes Magpale said.

Magpale, who co-chairs PCWC, is set to attend a court hearing at 2 p.m. today in Cordova on the cybersex raid in the town last June.

The six children were rescued during the raid. Their parents were then arrested and were later charged for child trafficking and child abuse.

“Maayo kaayo ha, they are doing very well. I wish to show them to you. Na-nambok sila, healthier of course,” Magpale said.

Magpale said it is very important that the kids are all together in one house with the PCWC taking care of them.

“Of course walay maka-substitute sa parents but unsa man sad na klase sa parent? Moingon ta na mingawon sila but unsa man sad na klase nga parents? And I wish I could show you the tape para makasabot mo na di gyud namo sila ikauli sa ilang parents,” the vice governor said.

Magpale also said the children are now attending an in-house school since they are still preparing for other documents for their regular schooling.

“Each time I went there, there is really an improvement they even wanted to live there,” she said.

Magpale said the children are temporarily studying under the Alternative Learning System of the government but will be sent soon to a regular school with the PCWC shouldering their expenses.  (FREEMAN)
