City Council commends two T. Padilla tanods

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - Two barangay tanods have been commended by the Cebu City Council for their bravery in pursuing and arresting a robbery suspect.

Cebu City Councilors Michael Ralota and Augustus Pe, Jr. jointly sponsored a resolution giving commendation to barangay tanods Raul Illustrisimo and Joselito Villa of Barangay T. Padilla.

The two tanods arrested robbery suspect Jovelone Felizanta in May after robbing call center agent Jodelyn Vizcayno, 21, of her cell phone and P2,000 cash at T. Villa Street.

Illustrisimo and Villa were roving at the area when they chanced upon the fleeing suspect. The tanods chased the suspect and subsequently placed him under arrest.

Pe and Ralota said the active participation of the tanods in the maintenance of the peace and order should be acknowledged by the City Council and give commendation where it is necessary.

Meanwhile, Councilor Roberto Cabarrubias has sponsored a resolution thanking the government of Yeosu City in the South Korea headed by Mayor Kim Chung-Seog for the 60 units of computers that they have donated for Cebu City.

Cabarrubias said Yeosu City officials fulfilled its promise when they visited Korea to witness the annual Great Turtle Ship Festival to donate computers for Cebu City. During the recent visit of the Yeosu City officials they brought along with them the 60 units of computers and pledged to help the city’s scholarship program. — (FREEMAN)
