Power projects on in mountain barangays

 CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Resource Management and Development Center (CREMEDEC) Executive Director Allan Bautista yesterday said the city is focusing on line connections, upgrading and expansion in continuing efforts to electrify all the mountain barangays and sitios in the city.

In a regular press briefing with the some department heads yesterday, Bautista said they are concentrating on completing energization Barangay Sudlon 2 particularly in Sitio Guindawahon, Sitio Pangi in Barangay Buot-Taup, sitios Tabla, Kansit, Morga in Barangay Suldon 1, and sitios Mac-ac and San Jose in Barangay Sinsin.

The city government has spent more than P5 million for this project.

In the terms of communication, a private site has been constructed in Barangay Adlawon for better communication.According to Bautista, they want 31 upland barangays in the city to have Internet connection and easy communication through mobile phone.

So far five barangays have requested Smart Communications to put up cellsites in their areas; these are barangays Tabunan, Sudlon II, Binaliw, Tagba-o and Buot-Taup.

Leo Maglasang, the executive director of the hillyland management, said that they want the mountain barangays to be open to E-commerce. (FREEMAN)
