CEBU, Philippines - A woman was killed while two others one of them a one-year-old child were injured after the motorcycle they were riding slammed into the pavement along the national highway in Barangay Maño, San Remigio town, Wednesday afternoon.
The victims, Aloisa Lareno, 50, of Barangay Punay, Aloguinsan town; Ruben Punay, 24, of Barangay 2, Tuburan town; and John Marion Punay, one year old, were rushed to the Severo Verallo Memorial District Hospital in Bogo City for treatment.
Lareno, who was severely injured, was declared dead by the attending physician a few minutes later.
Police said Ruben was driving his Honda Wave motorcycle with license plate numbers 2861GG with his son John Marion and his mother-in-law Lareno on board.
The victims were traveling south when Ruben ran over a pothole on the road causing him to lose control of the motorcycle.
“Nakaagi ug libaong ang motor pero naglisod na pagbawi mao ‘tong nadisgrasya,” said PO3 Joe Jhoneskie Inot, San Remigio police investigator.
Residents rushed them to the hospital.
Ruben was released from the San Remigio police stockade yesterday after the relatives of Lareno refused to file charges against him.
Lareno’s cadaver now lies in her residence for the vigil. (FREEMAN)
