Power problem affects CPPO operations

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - The problem on electricity at the Cebu Provincial Police Office has affected the operations of the police office.

The provincial police office does not have its own electricity transformer until now.

Several personnel of CPPO said the problem affected the receiving of spot reports from the 50 police stations in the different municipalities and component cities in the province, sending of messages to lower units, and limited water supply.

As a result, the police in-charge of the Operations Branch needs to go out of the office and look for an Internet café to check the headquarters’ emails.

Senior Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador, CPPO director, admitted that when he assumed post in March, the office is getting electricity through a common line.

“Common ra ang linya sa among kuryente unya tungod sa kadaghan sa ni-share sa load sa electricity maong hinay,” Comendador said.

Comendador added he already applied for a transformer but the Visayan Electric Company advised them to secure first an occupancy permit.

The occupancy permit however, could not be issued to CPPO since its new building lack a ramp for disabled, which is one of the requirements.

The provincial government once worked on the problem but it was stopped since they have to give more importance to the renovation of Carcar District Hospital, which was inaugurated recently.

But the provincial government already promised to help solve CPPO’s problem within this week.

“Makapikal man but we have to live and adjust sa station,” the provincial director said.

Early this year, the CPPO lost its power connection after failing to pay its bills amounting P386,342.

But the problem was solved after negotiations between the provincial government, which shouldered the payment of the bills. —(FREEMAN)
