CEBU, Philippines - A group of robbers were apparently having their field day in Cebu City yesterday as victims of two separate hold-up incidents had the same descriptions of the suspects when they reported to authorities.
Victims of the robbery inside a passenger jeepney along Gorordo Avenue and the victims of a hold-up outside a boarding house in Cabigon St. all said one of the armed robbers wore a red jersey.
Passengers of a 17B jeepney lost their valuables to three armed robbers. One of the three was pointing a gun at the driver while the hold up was being done at around 2 a.m.
Hera Ramos of Labangon, Cebu City lost her cell phone and P400 cash while Aiza Espe lost her sling bag containing used clothing to the robbers.
The victims went to the Fuente Police Station with the driver, Randy Bacanggoy. The robbers did not even bother pretending to be passengers when they stopped the jeepney at gunpoint along Gorordo Avenue, near the University of the Philippines Cebu College.
One of the three men pointed a gun at the driver while the two went to the passengers’ side to take their belongings.
Four hours before that, men with descriptions similar to the jeepney robbers also held-up occupants of a boarding house along Cabigon St.
Jam Nicaña , Apple Nicaña and their co-female boarder and their friends Antonio Cogoca and Neil Lomosad lost their cellphones to four unidentified culprits.
They immediately reported the incident to Sambag 1 Barangay Hall.
They narrated that while Cogoca and Lomosad visited their female friends at the boarding house, they noticed that a male teenager passed by them, looking suspicious.
Minutes later, four unknown men approached them with a handgun each and declared a hold-up. The men took their mobile phones and casually walked away from them.
Sambag I barangay tanods accompanied them to the Fuente Police Station so they could have a look at the rogue’s gallery. They then noticed that the descriptions of the men who robbed them were the same as the robbers of the 17B jeepney. (FREEMAN)
