CEBU, Philippines - A woman is now in critical condition after the motorcycle she was riding collided with another motorcycle Wednesday evening in Barangay Lanipga, Carmen.
Police said 28-year-old Geraldine Benitez of Barangay Baring was thrown a few meters away from the motorcycle. Her husband, Renante Benitez, 29, and the driver were dragged together with the motorcycle.
Geraldine, who suffered a head injury, was rushed to the Danao City District Hospital. Also hospitalized were Renante and the two drivers, Jestoni Medio, 19, and Carlito Capuyan, 21.
But Geraldine was later referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City due to her serious injuries.
The couple was traveling towards Barangay Poblacion on board a Honda motorcycle driven by Medio when they collided with the motorcycle driven by Capuyan, who was traveling on the opposite direction.
Police Officer 3 Roger Delan, Carmen traffic investigator, said both motorcycles were traveling on a high speed.
“Ngitngit na man gud na ang dalan basin puro pud sila gadali,” Delan said.
He said that Geraldine, who sat behind Renante, was thrown away and her head hit the road.
Renante, Medio and Capuyan who sustained minor injuries were released from the hospital yesterday.
Police said Geraldine refused to file a case against Capuyan, who promised to shoulder her medical expenses. — (FREEMAN)
