CEBU, Philippines - Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Carcar and Toledo cities over the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, Romulo Paran, 59, farmer, was shot dead by his neighbor in Sitio Buswang, Barangay Cambang-og, Toledo City due to misunderstanding over their crops.

Ely Pinili shot Paran once hitting his right arm but the bullet went through the victim’s right chest.

Neighbors rushed Paran to Toledo City hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Pinili remains at large and is now subject of a manhunt operation by the elements of Toledo City police.

Witness alleged that Paran was standing outside his house when Pinili arrived and suddenly shot him.

Seeing what happened, Wilfredo Paran, neighbor and relative of the victim, ran towards Pinili and grabbed his firearm, a .38 revolver pistol loaded with three live bullets and two empty shells.

Police said, Pinili and Paran had an altercation few days ago over their plants when Pinili was trying to claim Paran’s plants.

“Mga saging nga tanom mao man gyud ni kasagarang awayan,” SPO3 Carmelito Hornales said.

Meanwhile, an alleged mentally-ill man was found dead with two gunshot wounds in Sitio Upper Tawog, Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City Saturday morning.

Dennis Cabañete, 38, of Upper Lamacan, Barangay Valladolid was found sprawled on a grassy portion along the road by a certain Lita Racho.

Natalia Cabañete, mother of the victim claimed that Dennis went missing on Friday evening after he left their house without her consent.

Early morning the next day, Racho went to their house and informed her that her son was found already dead.

Police recovered one deformed slug of an unidentified caliber of firearm possibly used by the gunman at the crime scene.    - (THE FREEMAN)
