Erring policemen advised to undergo moral recovery
CEBU, Philippines - Police officers facing administrative cases are advised to undergo transformation and moral recovery program to mold their moral values.
Supt. Teofilo Siclot, deputy director for operations of the Cebu Provincial Police Office said “some police are becoming politicized so we need to reform them” through the Philippine National Police Integrity Transformation and Moral Recovery Program, which aims to reform the police to become more God-fearing individuals.
The Anabaptist Church, as an affiliation of the PNP, conducts the seminar which comprises eight meetings.
Siclot said the module used in the program is provided by the Camp Crame. “Dili man sila basta-basta lang sad motudlo kay gikan man sa Crame ang programs.”
Among the possible police officers who are going to be placed under the program are PO2 Rommel Patalinghug and PO1 Orland Condes of the Naga Police Station.
The two were accused of mauling Jesus Gealon, 48, a security guard last May 1 and took the latter’s P16,000 cash afterwards.
Another is PO2 Arnold Frenal of Argao Police Station who was charged for molesting a teenager in Barangay Poblacion last April 18 and PO2 Antonio Icalina of the Tudela Police Station who was allegedly shot to the knees by five unidentified men in an illegal drug-affected area in Barangay Langtad, Naga last May 21.
Siclot said the God-fearing approach of the program will be a very big help for the police officers on their works and on their personal lives.
While some police officers are to be placed under the transformation and moral recovery program for their misdeeds, others are recognized and given award for their outstanding performance. In fact, nine police officers were given Outstanding Officers’ Award by the Anabaptist Church in connection with its 24th anniversary.
The awardees are Siclot; Supt. Anthony Bagarinao, chief of the Balamban Police Station; Chief Insp. Bonifacio Garciano, chief of the Theft and Robbery Section of the CCPO; Supt. Rex Urbano, director of the Regional Training School; Chief Insp. Gazbamiller Guzman, of the 7th PCAS PNP Aviation Security Command; Senior Supt.
