CEBU, Philippines - Teaching children the basic of morality, livelihood program and reward system are among the solutions that local officials believe can solve cyber pornography problem in Cordova.
Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy said the town will pass an ordinance that will compel teachers to teach basic morality in schools.
“We will reverse it, we will go deeper wherein we will be targeting the students,” Sitoy said.
He proposed a regular meeting among the teachers, parents and students to instill values among the youths.
“Lots of homework to do, we will pass an ordinance to inject the basic morality in school,” he added.
Sitoy, who attended a meeting yesterday with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, National Bureau of Investigation and the Provincial Women’s Commission, among the solutions that they see to solve cyber pornography in Cordova is to implement livelihood program for the people.
They also agreed that a reward system to encourage people to report any illegal activity, especially cybersex, will solve the proble.
According to Sitoy, the impending reclamation project in Corodova will give the people in his town the opportunity to earn a living. He said the people living in the areas identified to have problems of cyber pornography, especially the barangay where a couple was arrested the other week for using their five minor children, will be given priority.
Operatives of the NBI in coordination with the United States Department of Homeland Security raided a house in Cordova the other week resulting to the arrest of a couple who were using their children in cybersex.
The couple, who are already facing charges for qualified trafficking in court, sold their five minor children to foreign customers on the web. —(FREEMAN)
