'Love triangle' possible motive in Talamban shooting - cops
CEBU, Philippines - Police are looking into a “love triangle” angle as main motive behind the shooting incident in Barangay Talamban last Wednesday that killed two men and injured a woman.
Homicide investigator PO3 Wetzel Berry said the previous lover of Thelma Ygot and the wife of Randy Librando, one of those killed in the incident, are the ones being considered as suspects. Berry said one of the suspects will be summoned for questioning on Monday.
Ygot, 42, owner of the Talamban Glass Supply, was injured while Librando, her alleged lover and at the same time company driver, died. Ygot’s brother and company helper, Dioscoro Abendan, 45, also died.
Two men, who disembarked from a motorcycle, entered the establishment at 4 pm, posed as customers, and subsequently shot Librando. Abendan came to Librando’s rescue but was also shot by one of the assailants.
Berry said Librando has a pending annulment case, which was filed by his wife.
As per information gathered by the police, Librando and Ygot were involved romantically, which they have reportedly opened to the public.
Berry said they will also send a letter request to Muntinlupa City where Ygot’s previous lover who also used to work as driver at her store, is currently imprisoned for shooting to death Ygot’s husband Vicente.
Berry said Fortaleza shot Vicente to death sometime in 2003 in Barangay Talamban also because of jealousy.
Berry said they are also scheduled to talk to the victim who is now stable at the North General Hospital. Apart from Ygot, another witness has reportedly surfaced and will assist the police in coming up with a cartographic sketch of the gunmen.
The two gunmen embarked on a waiting motorcycle driven by an accomplice right after the shooting.
Both victims died of gunshot wounds to their heads while Ygot suffered grazed wounds on her neck and stomach. (FREEMAN)
