No clues yet on trader's murder

CEBU, Philippines - The police are currently facing a blank wall as to the identity of the gunman and the motive behind the shooting to death of a Filipino-Chinese businessman in Barangay Capitol Site last Tuesday.

SPO1 Jay Yballe, chief investigator of Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, admitted that they are having a hard time identifying the men who shot dead Kenneth Teo, 39.

“Wa pa gyud. Lisod kaayo sa pagkakaron,” Yballe told The FREEMAN, when asked if they already have leads.

He said that in his previous conversations with the victim, who was shot two times prior to last Tuesday’s shooting that took his life, Teo himself had no idea who would possibly kill him.

Yballe said that right now, they are looking at all possible angles but have yet to focus on one. The possible angles would include business-related, personal, and love, among others, Yballe said.

Yballe said he went back to the crime scene yesterday to gather more information to the case.

He said they now have the cartographic sketch of the gunman based on the account of witnesses. This, he said, will serve as their guide to the personalities of the assailants.

As of yesterday, they have three to four witnesses who are cooperative to them, Yballe said.

The witnesses said the gunman wore sunglasses when he shot the victim who was manning his water-refilling store at Don Mariano Cui St. at past 9 a.m. that day.

Yballe said Teo’s relatives from Zamboanga City will arrive today. He said they will talk with the relatives to possibly gather information why Teo was killed.

Teo succumbed to gunshot wounds on his head and two on his left shoulder. He was declared dead at 4:13 p.m. last Tuesday.

Two unidentified men also shot him in November 12 and barely a month after. — (FREEMAN)
