Brigada Eskwela in CV successful

CEBU, Philippines - The Brigada Eskwela of the Department of Education-7 went on smoothly yesterday as public schools are now ready for the opening of classes on June 6.

Clara Rebecca Falconi, DepEd-7 officer-in-charge and regional information officer, said the event was successful.

Falconi said the Brigada Eskwela, whose 2011 edition was launched in Bohol, is done annually so classes will start immediately.

"Unlike before, di dayon makasugod og klase kay manglimpyo pa. This time, inig school opening, magklase na dayon," Falconi said.

Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide DepEd activity which involves volunteer teachers, parents, students, community members and other organizations doing minor repairs of schools in preparation for the class opening.

Meanwhile, the police will prioritize the security of schools situated along provincial roads and national highways, said Cebu Provincial Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador.

But adequate policemen will also be deployed in schools in upland barangays.

“Before and after class ra mobantay ang police kay they also have works to be done,” Comendador said.

The provincial director, who was a former Parents Teacher Association president, encouraged policemen to take the initiative to join PTA meetings and coordinate with the teachers.

Two weeks before classes start, policemen will be coordinating with school authorities on security concerns.

“We better start nga ready na rather than magsugod na ang klase nga di preparado,” Comendador said. (FREEMAN)
