Porter shot during disco

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old porter landed at the hospital after he was shot by an unidentified man during a benefit dance in Sitio Kabulakan, Barangay Basak-Pardo early morning yesterday.

Ruben Pacquiao, 22, resident of sitio Kangku-ngan of the same barangay, sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder after he was shot by the lone gunman.

Pacquiao told police he was drinking with his friends at the disco area when he decided to go outside together with a certain Sheila Mae.

When they were already outside to supposedly have a date, they were met by an unidentified man about his age asking if the girl is his girlfriend.

The victim allegedly denied, saying, “Dili oy, imuha na lang na.”

At this point, the perpetrator suddenly attempted to punch him that led into a fistfight.

At the middle of their fight, the suspect allegedly pulled a gun and tried to shoot the victim in the face but the latter was able to evade it. The suspect then fired another shot and hit the victim to his shoulder.

The victim ran away to avoid further attack from the suspect, who immediately fled from the area.

Pacquiao was rushed by his friends to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is now recuperating.

Police said the assailant may have envied the victim and his friends because they were drinking together with some girls. —(FREEMAN)
