- Caryl Vangeli A. Montera -

CEBU, Philippines - Three people, including a security guard and a minor, were injured in two separate stabbing incidents in Cebu City on Sunday.

Danilo Ygonia, 40, and his cousin Darwin Andebor, 13, are in critical condition at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center after they got stabbed during a benefit dance in sitio Kapakulan, Barangay Tisa at 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

The victims attended the benefit dance in celebration of their sitio fiesta when an altercation happened between them and the suspect, Jerome Abella.

Abella, 21, allegedly scolded Andebor not to enter the dance hall. The suspect who surrendered after he committed the crime admitted he got into an argument with the victims prompting him to stab them.

Ygonia was hit twice on the chest while Andebor was hit on the lower left portion of the body.

The second stabbing happened around 3:10 p.m. in Sitio Cahipa, Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City. 40-year-old Alegado Palang, a security guard of UV Internet Café, was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center after he was stabbed in his lower left leg.

Palang told the police that he approached and confronted Rogel Denampo, who was engaged in a drinking spree with his friends.

A heated argument resulted between the two resulting to a fist fight but Denampo got hold of a knife in the process. The suspect then stabbed Palang, who was able to parry his thrusts. Palang managed to run for safety but Denampo chased and stabbed him again before fleeing.

Police alleged that Palang and the suspect were having a personal dispute over personal matters. (FREEMAN)
