1 dead, 2 hurt in Malubog ambush
CEBU, Philippines - A man died while two others were injured after they were shot by a lone gunman in Ayala Heights, Barangay Malubog, Cebu City last Saturday afternoon.
Christopher Timplado, 21, died at the hospital while his brother, 24-year-old Joseph Timplado and companion, Rommel Tampus, 22, were injured. They work as utility men and canvassers and are residents of Barangay Buhisan.
According to the surviving victims, they were buying scrap materials from a certain Esec along the road at past 12 p.m. when a man riding on a red motorcycle stopped near them.
The man alighted from the motorcycle, approached them and with no apparent reason, pulled out a gun and began shooting at them several times.
The assailant then boarded his motorcycle and sped off towards Balamban town.
The victims were rushed to the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital where they were treated for their wounds on the lower knee and right leg.
Christopher later succumbed to a gunshot wound on his right chest.
The police believe that personal grudges have something to do with the shooting incident, though they are still verifying this. – (FREEMAN)
