20-year-old hangs self

CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old man was found hanging from a tree beside a river in sitio Tres de Abril in Labangon, Cebu City.

Renaldo Pepito of sitio Trinidad, barangay Punta Princesa found dead at around 8 o’clock yesterday morning by some children, who hurriedly reported what they saw to authorities.

Victor Buendia, the barangay captain of Labangon, said they received the report at around 9:00 a.m. and a concerned citizen called the police station for assistance.

The mother of the victim, Luzviminda Pepito, 43, said her son did not come home the night before. She learned that her son had been drinking with his friend Edward.

She said her son arrived home at 6:00 a.m. She asked him if he had taken her money because she lost some amount. After their short conversation, her son went out without telling where he was heading.

According to the neighbors, Renaldo was accused by his mother of stealing her money and he was always reprimanded for sleeping late at nights.

SPO3 Roger Nedamo, PO3 Wetzel Berry and PO2 Nilo Aventurado of the Homicide Section said that the mother told them she did not scold her son at all so this could not be the reason he hanged himself.

The police learned that it was Renaldo’s friend who stole the money from Luzviminda. (FREEMAN)
