Pa indicted for raping daughter seven times

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a father for raping his 18-year-old daughter seven times in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Assistant city prosecutor Liceria Rabillas has elevated the criminal cases for seven counts of rape against the father, name withheld by The FREEMAN, before the Regional Trial Court.

“Considering that the respondent is the father of the complainant and pursuant to the law the penalty of reclusion perpetua shall be imposed. Thus, the respondent is not entitled to bail as bail is not a matter of right,” Rabillas said in her resolution finding probable cause to indict the father.

The victim said her father started raping her since she was 11 years-old. According to her, she did not report what her father was doing because of fear.

The accused allegedly threatened to kill her mother and her younger siblings if she would tell anyone what had happened between them.

“Just let me do what I want to do to you and if you tell anyone, I will kill your mother and your younger siblings,” the victim recalled what her father had said.

According to the victim, the accused pointed a gun at her every time she was raped.

Although she was only able to recall the last seven incidents wherein she was raped by her father, but the victim said the accused started raping her since she was 11 years old.

The victim recalled that her father raped her three times on March 28 and then on April 4, 15, 16 and 17, 2010. The victim said she was able to escape from her father on May 12, 2010 when she went to Manila where she confided her ordeal with her own father to her cousin.

It was the victim’s cousin who reported the incident to the authorities. — (FREEMAN)
