Judge Marigomen suffers "mild" heart attack

CEBU, Philippines - Regional Trial Court Branch 5 Judge Douglas Marigomen yesterday suffered “mild” heart attack. The judge however refused to be taken to the hospital claiming he was okay.

Paramedics of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation rushed to the Marcelo B. Fernan Hall of Justice at 12:30 p.m. after receiving emer-gency call from one of Marigomen’s staff.

Marigomen was in his chamber with his 21-year-old son who visited him for lunch when the judge suddenly com-plained of chest pain. The son called out for help from the court staff when his father fell down from the chair.

Responding ERUF personnel found the unconscious judge on the floor inside his chamber. Paramedics applied first aid until the judge regained consciousness.

When ERUF personnel were about to bring him to the hospital, Marigomen allegedly refused saying he only needs a little rest. He also refused to sign a waiver from ERUF as proof of his refusal to be conducted to the hospital.

“First time pato na gi ataki si judge pero magsud gawas nana siya sa hospital,” the members of his staff said. –(FREEMAN)
