Photo contest on breastfeeding

CEBU, Philippines - A photo contest featuring breastfeeding mothers and a lactation summit will be among the series of activities launched by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Central Visayas and the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development (MIND)-7 on May 13 to promote breastfeeding.

Parolita Mission, NNC-7 director, revealed that this year’s Nutrition Month, which is in July, will revolve around the theme “Isulong ang breastfeeding. Tama. Sapat. Ekslusibo,” or in short “BF TSEk.”

The series of activities, which include a region-wide information campaign to promote breastfeeding, will be launched during the general assembly of MIND-7 members in Cebu and other Central Visayas provinces on May 13 at the second floor of Harold’s Hotel, in Cebu City.

MIND-7 is a network of media practitioners headed by DYLA station manager Jun Tagalog and have members representing print, radio, and television as well as social media and the blogging community in Cebu.

According to Mission, specific details of the Nutrition Month activities especially the photo contest and the lactation summit shall be revealed on May 13.

Aside from the launch, MIND-7 members representing Cebu, Bohol and Negros Oriental are expected to present and ratify the group’s constitution and by-laws during the general assembly.

There will be also an oath-taking of its members. – (FREEMAN)
