CEBU, Philippines - Representatives of the Cebu provincial government and the City of Cebu are scheduled to meet within the week to continue the efforts to resolve the issues regarding the properties of the Capitol within the city.
Capitol consultant Rory Jon Sepulveda was tasked by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to meet with City Administrator Jose Mari Poblete to continue what they have already started to discuss on the possible settlement of the controversial 93-1 lots.
Aside from this, Sepulveda and Poblete will also include other issues such as the ownership of the Fuente Osmeña Rotunda and many others.
Sepulveda said they will find acceptable solution to both parties. Capitol officials believe that all other controversies involving the province and the city will be settled through a dialogue.
They cited the solution of the earlier conflict between the two local government units on the closure of the Larsian access road near Fuente Osmeña Rotunda and the case of the province-owned trailer truck that was towed by the Cebu City Traffic Operation and Management.
The provincial government agreed to reopen the Larsian access road after the negotiation wherein the city government also agreed to release the trailer truck in exchange.
Another issue to be tackled during the meeting will be the possible cooperation between the city and the province in the management of the Cebu City Zoo.
Garcia said Councilor Nida Cabrera asked her permission about the improvement that the city wishes to undertake in the zoo, during the reopening of the newly restored Plaza Independencia.
The city and the province are looking at the possibility to co-manage the zoo which is located in the province-owned lot in Barangay Kalunasan. (FREEMAN)
