CEBU, Philippines - A noted drug pusher nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Guiwanon, Barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete, Friday evening.
Police said 25-year-old Jonel “Simon” Ramas is a resident of Barangay Pasil, Cebu City and was just in the area to sell illegal drugs. Ramas’ companion, a certain Kentoy Buenconsejo was able to elude arrest.
Ramas was arrested by police operatives right after he received the P300 buy-bust money from a poseur buyer who “bought” two small packs of shabu. Buenconsejo was allegedly able to run away to avoid arrest.
Confiscated from Ramas’s possession were two small packs of shabu, one medium-sized pack containing shabu residue, several pieces of straight cut tin foil, several transparent plastic packs, and P700 cash believed to be his proceeds from the illegal drug trade.
Evidences recovered were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory at Camp Sotero Cabahug for chemical analysis.
SPO2 Clito Pia, Dalaguete police investigator, told The FREEMAN that Ramas has been under surveillance for a month before the operation was carried out about 11 p.m. at the apartment owned by a certain “Peping,” a relative of Buenconsejo.
Ramas allegedly comes to the area occasionally to deliver shabu but it is Buenconsejo who is doing the actual selling to customers.
Police said that based on reports they have gathered, two weeks ago, Ramas was able to dispose 200 small packs of illegal drugs worth P30,000 in a day during the barangay fiesta of the place.
A case for violation of Section 5 of RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against Ramas on Monday at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. —/WAB (FREEMAN)
