City Jail inmate yields shabu
CEBU, Philippines - An inmate of the Cebu City Jail is facing another charge after jailguards seized from him more than 100 small packs of suspected shabu inside the jail Monday afternoon.
Eric Armenio, who is currently incarcerated for illegal possession of shabu, yielded 124 small packs of shabu.
Jail Officer 1 RV Joy Remolano said they discovered that the suspect was hiding something because of his sudden reaction when jailguards passed him by at the visiting area about 4 p.m.
“Pagkakita niya sa akong mga kauban minglabay og kalit sa iyang atubangan, na-shock man siya og kalit maong nagduda ang mga jailguards, ‘nya naa pu’y official ato,” Remolano said.
The suspect was imprisoned at the city jail since December 19, 2008 for illegal possession of shabu.
Remolano said they have to determine who among the suspect’s visitors smuggled the illegal drugs into the jail.
The incident was seen as a challenge to new Jail Warden Maria Victoria Jimenez, who replaced Supt. Felixberto Jagorin.
Mayor Michael Rama had said he does not want to grant any assistance to the city jail since its officials failed to improve their performance. - /LPM (FREEMAN)
