CEBU, Philippines - A police officer has filed a criminal complaint for robbery against an employee of Barangay Guadalupe who allegedly extorted money from him to settle her complaint.
Police Officer 3 Richard Cyril Valencia, assigned at the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, accused Lyzanne Labiste, 23, resident of Green Village, Guadalupe of allegedly demanding money from him.
Valencia said Labiste “blackmailed” him by threatening to file a complaint if he refused to give her demand. Labiste earlier accused Valencia of trespassing and pointing a gun at her.
Valencia and other police operatives were then in a hot pursuit operation against a murder suspect when he entered Labiste’s house and allegedly pointed a gun at her.
Labiste threatened that she will file a case against Valencia. However, the police officer said the suspect demanded P70,000 from him as settlement.
In a text message of Labiste on April 28, 2011 the suspect said, “pay me 70K mahuman ta ani kay dili man jud makabawos og ang nerbiyos sa akong mga iyaan dinhi.”
According to Valencia, Labiste texted him against and raised her demand to P80,000 but later lowered it to P50,000.
Valencia said he referred the matter to Chief Insp. George Ylanan who decided that an entrapment operation will be conducted against Labiste.
Valencia said he closed the deal at P20,000 where Labiste agreed to pick up the money outside the Guadalupe Barangay Hall at around 2:30 p.m. of April 29. The transaction resulted to Labiste’s arrest. (FREEMAN NEWS)
