CEBU, Philippines - Victims lost about P65,000 to robbers in two hold-up incidents in the towns of Carmen and Minglanilla, Cebu.
Chemuel Laride, 28, a sales agent of a beer company and resident of barangay Magay, Compostela, lost his Seiko wristwatch and some cash after two unidentified robbers held him up.
Laride was delivering beer in one of the stores in barangay Dawis Sur, Carmen, northern Cebu when the incident happened.
Laride claimed he was sitting at a waiting shed waiting for his delivery boy when two men onboard a motorcycle arrived, pretending to be customers of the nearby store.
One of the men suddenly approached him and poked a gun at him, saying, “Ayaw nalang og palag, ayaw nalang og sukol, kwarta ray amo.” (Don’t move, we’re only after your money.)
The other man acted as look out.
He lost his gold-plated Seiko wristwatch worth P4,320 and his P18,781-earnings.
The two hurriedly fled towards Danao City onboard a blue XRM Honda motorcycle without a plate number.
Meanwhile, three victims lost their valuables and cash after they were held up by a motorcycle riding men while inside an eatery at barangay Lipata, Minglanilla last Thursday afternoon.
The driver of a delivery truck for a softdrinks company, 25-year-old Jionebert Sabelo of barangay Uling, Naga City, lost three checks amounting P38,248.
His helper, Roel Carvajal, 27, of barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla lost his wallet containing identification cards.
Meanwhile, store owner Gil Yap, 31, of Guadalupe, Cebu City lost his belt bag containing different bank cards, P300 cash and identification cards.
Sabelo said they were eating when he noticed a red XRM Honda motorcycle without a plate number stopping near the eatery.
The back rider disembarked and approached him, declared a hold up while poking a gun and took the checks. The man then went to Carvajal and demanded for his wallet, then went over to Yap.
The two men fled towards Talisay City.
Policemen are conducting hot pursuit operations on both robbery incidents. (FREEMAN)
