CEBU, Philippines - An unidentified boy died after being hit by a motorcycle yesterday dawn in Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City.
The victim was declared dead hours later by attending physician at the South General Hospital where he was brought by Naga City Councilor Joy Villarico, who also reported the incident to the police.
Policemen suspect that a motorcycle hit the victim due to the broken pieces of plastic cover of a motorcycle found in the scene of the incident.
The victim was wearing tattered clothes and shorts.
Police Officer 3 Bernard Otida of Naga City Police Station said that residents nearby saw the victim early in the morning lying along the national highway.
Around 7:30 a.m., Otida said the attending physician informed them that the victim died due to severe injuries in his head and body.
Policemen found it hard to identify the motorist since nobody saw what happened.
Otida said they are calling those who have a missing family member to go to Mount View Funeral Homes in Barangay Inayagan, Naga where the victim’s body is being brought.
According to Brenda Gabato, social worker of the Naga City Social Welfare and Development, they often saw the victim walking along the national highway.
She suspects that the victim has a mental problem.
