VECO continues school rewiring

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - The Visayan Electric Co., Inc. took advantage of summer to continue the rewiring of public schools within its franchise area.

The power distributor adopted five schools to be included in its rewiring project.

These schools are the North San Fernando Central School in San Fernando town, Naga Central School in the Naga City, Vito Elementary School in Minglanilla town, Tipolo Elementary School in Mandaue City and Jugan Elementary School in Consolacion town.

In a press statement, VECO said these schools’ old electrical lines, overrated electrical facilities and broken electrical fixtures will be replaced with new ones.

All incandescent bulbs will also be replaced with CFL bulbs which are energy and cost saving.

As a member of the Aboitiz Group of Companies, VECO is steadfast in its corporate social responsibility’s goal to provide better quality education.

Eric Ching, VECO’s community relations manager, said the rewiring is very timely since classes are still closed.

Ching said they expect that the project will be completed before the opening of classes in June.

Aside from the five schools, the power distribution utility also rewired four public schools in the first quarter of this year.

These schools are the Garing National High School in Liloan town, Arcelo Memorial High School in Consolacion town, Pasil Night High School in Cebu City and Cansojong National High School in Talisay City.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
