- Deborah Mae C. Fortich -

CEBU, Philippines -  A Japanese lost 170,000 yen or P84,000 to thieves at a hotel in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, last Wednesday.

Yoshinori Sasaki, 62, from Osaka, Japan, and his partner Sheila Belarmino Salazar, 32, both residents of Lower Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City, reported the incident to the Theft and Robbery Section.

The victims earlier rented a room at the hotel and left. They went back around 1 p.m. of April 13, 2011 and discovered that unidentified men had entered Room 620 and taken the money.

The money had been placed inside a black leather wallet inside a black laptop bag placed in the cabinet.

The TRS said there was no forced entry, they are now questioning hotel personnel.

The hotel’s marketing communications manager said that they are still conducting an internal investigation and they will have an official statement after their search.  (FREEMAN)
