Crime volunteers nab pusher
CEBU, Philippines - A noted drug pusher in Sitio Kawatan, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City was arrested by a police augmentation task force during their saturation drive last Thursday evening.
Ramil Macaraya Racaza, 40 was arrested by the Taliminascar (Talisay, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, Carcar) Task Force after he was found with two small plastic packs of suspected shabu.
Cebu Provincial Police Office deputy director for operations Supt. Teofilo Siclot conducted a saturation drive to eliminate rampant illegal activities in the area.
Siclot said they conducted a briefing before two teams went to the area and they noticed Racaza a few meters away acting suspiciously upon seeing them.
Siclot said Racaza resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed by the lawmen and brought to the Talisay City police stockade.
Acting Cebu Provincial Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador formed the Taliminascar after receiving several reports of robberies in the mentioned towns.
The said operation will be made about two to three times on any day of the week. About 100 personnel will conduct the operation and most of them will be from the CPPO headquarters.
Aside from the task force in southern towns, Comendador is also planning to create another task force in northern Cebu to consist of police personnel from the towns of Consolacion, Liloan, Compostela and Danao City.
Siclot said in order to intensify the campaign there will an additional group to be formed made up of four teams. Each team will be headed by a police superintendent.
The first saturation drive was made last week in Sitio Kawatan around 10 p.m. However, no one was arrested and nothing was confiscated.
Comendador found out that behind some houses in a slum area they saw rope being prepared, perhaps for a quick getaway by criminals when the police arrive.
“Naay mga pisi ngadto paingon sa sapa nga maoy ilang agianan possibly kung moikyas na,” Comendador said added that he ordered his personnel to cut all the ropes.
During the saturation drive intensified checkpoints will be made.
Comendador also called on the local government to do something about the slums of Sitio Kawatan since the place has become a haven for criminals.
“Dako ni’g impact sa katawhan kay it can create fear so we need to act on it,” he said. (FREEMAN)
