Marijuana plants uprooted in Badian
CEBU, Philippines - A total of 3,090 stalks of fully grown marijuana were uprooted by the Badian police headed by their chief Insp. Timmar Alam in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Barangay Basiao, Badian town, yesterday morning.
The uprooted stalks were estimated to cost around P1.8 million.
Alam said the uprooting of the marijuana was in connection with their recent operation against four suspected marijuana planters who are still at large.
Alam said that they are now preparing charges against the four suspected planters. He also said that it is the third time that their team was able to uproot marijuana in the same barangay. The first was last November 2010 and followed by March 24, 2011.
The marijuana stalks were discovered in 12 cultivation lots measuring 50 square meters each.
The four suspected drug farmers will be facing charges for violating Article 2, Section 16 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (FREEMAN)
