ABC fires 3 "ineffective" employees
CEBU, Philippines - The Association of Barangay Councils has terminated the services of three employees who were found inefficient in their jobs. Their positions will not be filled up as part of the association’s cost-cutting measure.
ABC President Michael Ralota said that the three employees whose services have been terminated include a bookkeeper and two utility workers. These employees, whose names he refused to reveal, have always been absent and late for work.
“Ang gusto nako ang mahabilin lang diha katong mga efficient. Unsaon man nako sila kung di man sila efficient sa ilang trabaho,” Ralota said.
He added that their positions are also not necessary to run the ABC.
Aside from dissolving unnecessary positions, ABC have lessened the expenses for its activities such as general assemblies and minimize the use of electricity in their office at the South Road Properties to cut their monthly operations cost.
ABC spends about P320,000 monthly for the salary of the then 36 employees alone. Now, ABC is left with 32 employees.
Ralota said that they now have P1.156 million cash in bank after 14 more barangays paid their proportionate and equal share to the association.
The barangays who have initially paid as of March 12, during the first ABC general assembly, were Binaliw, Ermita, Lorega, Lusaran, Mabini, Pulang-bato, Sambag 1, Bonbon and Pahina San Nicolas.
As of yesterday the additional barangays are Carreta, Cogon Ramos, Kalubihan, Malubog, Lorega, Sambag 2, T. Padilla, Kalunasan, Pung-ol Sibugay, Quiot, Sawang Calero, Toong and Sudlon 1.
Bario Luz paid its share yesterday amounting to P110,000.
Ralota said that this is only 24 barangays out of 33 barangays that already have an approved budget. – (FREEMAN)
