CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways has allocated over P300 million for the rehabilitation of the Cebu South Coastal Road few months from now.
The project will be undertaken by the Cebu City Engineering District headed by Engineer Nicomedes Leonor.
Documents obtained by the Freeman show that the DPWH Manila has allocated P303.1 million for the rehabilitation and improvement of the CSCR. It may however take time before the project can be started because their Manila office is yet to conduct a public bidding.
Leonor explained that because of the amount involve it is the DPWH national office that undertakes the bidding. The implementation will be supervised by the Project Monitoring Office.
According to Leonor, the budget will be used to cover the expenses to rehabilitate a portion of the viaduct near the approach of the tunnel before Plaza Independencia.
“Naay nangliki nga kabahin sa karsada mao nay ayuhon ug kabahin sa proyekto nga gastohan,” Leonor told The FREEMAN. Since the place used to be a part of the sea, its work designed is not so much easy. (FREEMAN)
