CEBU, Philippines - A graduating elementary pupil could no longer receive his diploma this Saturday after he was killed by his neighbor in Sitio Nava, Alaska-Mambaling, Cebu City Tuesday midnight.
Jeffrey Sabroso, 17, a resident of Sitio Lawis and a graduating student of Mambaling Elementary School sustained stab wounds in different parts of his body and was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect, identified only as certain “Jose,” immediately fled and eluded arrest by the responding policemen.
Homicide investigators led by SPO4 Alex Dacua disclosed that Sabroso was attending the wake of his friend, Arnaldo Cason, who was shot dead by two unidentified suspects last Monday in the said place.
Sabroso was allegedly standing when Jose came and stabbed him repeatedly and fled.
On Monday, Cason, 33, a laborer was chased and shot by two unidentified assailants to his nape and face that caused his instantaneous death. No one could identify the suspects, who fled on foot after the shooting.
Police said perpetrators fired twice at Cason causing him to slump on the bridge. A .38 revolver and an empty shell of caliber .45 pistol were found near the victim’s body.
Police said they are still investigating the motives behind the two killings and trying to determine if they are connected. (FREEMAN)
