Former brgy chief shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A former barangay captain of Barangay Vito, Minglanilla was shot dead by two assailants about 9:30 in the evening Saturday while he was sitting outside his house.
Nonito Alicamen, 50 was declared dead on arrival at Minglanilla District Hospital due to three fatal gunshot wounds.
PO1 Jerome Abarquez said Alicamen was sitting outside his house when the two men, armed with undetermined caliber of firearm appeared and shot him repeatedly before fleeing.
The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds near his armpit, shoulder, and in his abdominal area.
Policemen recovered a deformed slug of undetermined caliber of firearm and a pair of blue slippers believed to be owned by one of the gunmen from the crime scene.
Based on information gathered by the police, Alicamen had an argument with someone on Friday regarding a piece of land. At the height of their altercation, Alicamen allegedly boxed the man in the face but they were pacified by their neighbors.
The police already have suspects, who they refused to identify yet, in the nearby mountain barangays after a distant relative of one of the suspects allegedly heard him saying, “Manglayas mi kay nakaigo mi.”
“Right after ang witness nihatag og lead sa atong operatives, nag-hot pursuit dayon mi,” Abasquez said, the two suspects are close friends.
Abarquez added they already have the names and places where the suspects are possibly hiding but he refused to detail. — (FREEMAN)
