Burglars strike Brgy. Santo Niño
CEBU, Philippines - Over P200,000 cash lost to a series of burglaries in Barangay Santo Niño victimizing two auto parts shops and a hardware last Thursday.
Wellson Auto Parts Enterprises and Young Auto Parts lost P100,000 and P80,000 cash, respectively, to still unidentified persons who broke into the shops. The nearby Eureka Hardware also lost P20,000.
Reports from the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office show that the unidentified burglars gained entry by cutting a portion of the roof of the three establishments.
Pacita Ong, 48, owner of Wellson Enterprises, reported that her P100,000 cash placed inside her table drawer got lost. Tony Young, 47, also claimed to have lost P80,000.
The two together with Tomothy Lim, 41, owner of Eureka Hardware reported the incidents to the police at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
The police believe that the culprits in the three burglary incidents are only the same. Alberto Balaba, chief tanod of Barangay Santo Niño, told The FREEMAN that they are patrolling the area on a 24-hour basis.
The incident prompted the barangay officials to order the investigation against the tanods who were on duty when the burglary incidents happened.
“Nangatarungan man sad ma’am na nag-roving sila ngadtong tungora nya wa man jud nila mabantayi kay didto man sa atop ming-agi, unya uwan-uwan pud atong higayona. Bisan unsaon tingali namo og roving, gawas kung pareha mi ni superman, makit-an jud namo sila,” Balaba said. — (FREEMAN)
