-

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia left yesterday afternoon for Bantayan Island to inaugurate various projects in the municipalities of Bantayan and Sta. Fe.

Garcia will begin her activities in Sta. Fe today with the inauguration of Balidbid Bridge, a concreted road in Barangay Pooc, the Senior Citizens and Library Building, and the Sta. Fe Training Center Building.

Before lunch time, she will motor to Bantayan Gym for the Gov. Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Grassroots Program Workshop.

She will have lunch at the Bantayan Municipal Social Hall before proceeding to the island barangay of Lipayran for the inauguration of an electrification project.

A 45-minute boat ride from the mainland Bantayan, Lipayran Islet is now energized through the nearest islet barangay of Doong.

Under the electrification project, the province has spent P900,000 for the wires and poles, according to Provincial Planning and Development Officer Adolfo Quiroga.

Garcia said there may be other activities to be inserted into her itinerary, depending on the availability of her schedule. — (FREEMAN)
