CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is set to recommend a reward for the tanod of Barangay Tejero who was shot while running after a group of robbers in the said barangay Monday.
Ramil Lim, 42, was shot in the left arm by 24-year-old Bobby Arnel Cabahug who was carrying an Ingram submachine pistol.
Lim was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center and is now out of danger. His hospital expenses will be shouldered by the Cebu City Government through the city’s Hospitalization Assistance and Medical Program.
Rama said that he will have the Police Coordinating and Advisory Council assess the condition of Lim to determine what form of reward the city may give him.
The mayor commended the act of Lim and other tanods who are dedicated in their job even to the extent of being shot or injured.
Rama also commended the police who were able to immediately respond and arrest the robber.
Tejero Councilman and The FREEMAN reporter Garry Lao said that the barangay is also planning to give Lim an award depending on the available resources.
He said that Lim is now in good condition and has also received assistance including cash from different individuals.
Cebu City Councilor Edgardo Labella, he said, also extended help to the family of Lim. Councilors Alvin Dizon and Lea Japson, Lao said, also expressed willingness to give help.
The city council, through the committee on public order and safety, has rewarded cops and tanods who have done exemplary acts to ensure peace and order in the city in the past. – (FREEMAN)
