CH committee had a hard time locating former ABC engineer

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - The fact-finding committee investigating the alleged irregularities in the implementation of barangay projects is having a hard time contacting the former head of the technical division of the Association of Barangay Council who is one of the persons that the committee needs to shed light on the issue.

Atty. Joseph Bernaldez, head of the City Legal Office and member of the committee, said that since the expiration of Engr. Raul Buscato’s contract as ABC head of technical division, he could no longer be reached. Their notice requesting Buscato’s appearance at the City Hall was returned because ABC no longer knows his whereabouts or where he now lives.

Bernaldez said that they are trying to reach him in Santander where the engineer originally lives.

They need Buscato’s reports on the inspection he supervised on the projects that were implemented by the barangays during his time.   Buscato was also the person in-charged of creating the Program of Works and Estimates of all the projects endorsed to ABC.

The investigation of the fact-finding committee is extended after the committee found documents that need further study.   They were supposed to conclude their investigation last March 5 which was the expiration of the first 15-day extension they asked from Mayor Michael Rama.

The committee wants to produce a more comprehensive output which can be done if given ample time.

Although the extension was indefinite but Bernaldez said they will finish the investigation as soon as possible. (FREEMAN)
