Guards seek CH help for release of salary from former agency

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - Security guards assigned at the Cebu City Hall asked the city government to help them convince their former agency to release their salary for the second half of December 2010.

Cebu City Councilor Alvin Dizon said he received a letter from 19 security guards previously working with Assault Security Agency who said the agency did not release their pay for the time period December 16 to 31.

“We would like to ask help from your good office to ask from our agency, Assault Security Agency, to release our December 16-31, 2010 salary,” the letter reads.

The security guards had a monthly salary of P9,200. They also asked that the agency release their cash bond and refundable of their SSS, Pag-Ibig and Philhealth contributions.

One of the guards told The FREEMAN that the agency hired him last September 16 and assigned him at the City Hall. However, on December 31, the agency reportedly no longer renewed their services.

After they resigned from Assault Security Agency, they transferred to another security agency – the Care Best International Security Service.

A source from City Hall told The FREEMAN that the city government has actually readied the payment to Assault Security Agency, but could not release the same because the agency failed to submit a document needed in the accounting.

The Council referred the matter to its budget and finance committee and City Budget Office for appropriate action. — (FREEMAN)
