Vessel runs aground off Pasil

CEBU, Philippines - A passenger-cargo vessel was stranded for two hours at sea after it ran aground off the coast in sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil dawn yesterday.

Anelito Gabisan, spokesperson of the Coast Guard District Central Eastern District, said the Lite Ferry 9, which was travelling from Tubigon, Bohol, ran aground when it hit a shallow portion of the sea. The incident happened between 3-4am.

“Nasayop ug kalkular ang kapitan maong minglahos sa mabaw nga bahin sa dagat ang barko,” Gabisan said.

All 37 passengers and crew were safe when they were rescued around 5:45am.

In a separate incident, another vessel was delayed after one of its engines malfunctioned while at sea yesterday morning. (FREEMAN)
