Trike driver nabbed for drug possession

CEBU, Philippines - A trisikad driver was arrested by the police during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Suba Tuesday afternoon.

Judel Estor, 30, who admitted selling illegal drugs to augment his income, was caught in possession of 15 plastic sachets of shabu worth P4,500.

Members of the intelligence branch of the Cebu City Police Office were supposed to have a transaction with a certain “budok” last Tuesday but the suspect was able to escape. Budok, right hand of an alleged female drug supplier in Suba, reportedly sensed that he was transacting with an undercover police operative prompting him to call off the transaction and fled before he could be arrested.

CIB chief Romeo Santander said they were able to close transaction with Budok through a poseur-buyer. But when they arrived at the crowded area around 4 pm, the people, including Budok has sensed that they were policemen prompting the people to scamper.

The police tried to chase Budok, who could have led them to the drug supplier in Suba, but they failed to catch him. But his runner, Estor, was arrested.

Several packs of illegal drugs were found in his pocket when his body was frisked.

The suspect admitted owning the shabu, disclosing that he had been selling illegal drugs for a year already to augment his income. — (FREEMAN)
