CFI donates P1M to Capitol
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu CFI Community Cooperative has donated P1 million to the Province of Cebu during the celebration of its 41st anniversary last Sunday held at the Cebu International Convention Center.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she wants to spend the money for “infrastructure of lasting legacy.” She thinks of spending it for the construction of additional classrooms in the province.
The governor said it was not the first time the CFI gave donation as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The Cebu CFI Community Cooperative has been in existence for four decades now, with the aim of uplifting the quality of life of thousands of its members.
It was founded by Garcia’s mother, retired Judge Esperanza Garcia in 1969.
Starting with 29 employees of Cebu’s Court of First Instance (now the Regional Trial Court) who banded together to establish the cooperative with a total starting capital of 200 pesos.
Now it boasts of more than 55,000 in membership and with assets of more than P3.8 billion. (FREEMAN NEWS)
